What is Biodiversity?
The term biodiversity stems from the term "biological diversity"
"bio" means life
"diversity" means variety
Biodiversity refers to the variety of life on Earth at three levels: the genetic variation within a species, the diversity among species, and the variation between ecosystems. Not only does it include species we consider rare, threatened, or endangered but also every living thing, from humans to organisms we know little about like microbes, invertebrates, and fungi. This interconnected relationship makes all of biodiversity, including the species, land and seascapes, and the cultural links to the places where we live — be right where we are or in distant lands — important in maintaining the diverse and healthy planet we all know as our one and only home.
Changing Your Outlook
NATURE AT YOUR DOORSTEPFor many, wildlife is often something you see in nature documentaries on Netflix or in National Geographic photographs on the internet. It's not something you typically think about when you look out your window or walk out of your front door on sunny mornings. In reality — from the water you drink to the air you breathe — every little detail sustaining life relies on biodiversity.

My Goal
As a part of my Environmental Communications course, I created this website to inform the public on the importance of Earth's biodiversity and to act as a resource for those inspired to take action. I aim to capture this environmental topic in a positive and bright light in hopes of spurring wonder and motivation to protect our planet's species - both near and far. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy :)
